Lincoln Park

“Lincoln Park, looking south from the Palm House” in Rand McNally and Company’s Pictorial Chicago and Illustrated World’s Columbian Exposition (Chicago, Rand McNally and Company, 1893)

Chicago’s largest public park, Lincoln Park is located just north of Lake Shore Drive.

Quotation from A Parisienne in Chicago:

“Lincoln Park, a superb public garden filled with tall, shady trees and statues, lines the banks of sparkling Lake Michigan. The majority of the statues are not very good, an exception being one of General Grant done by Antonin Mercié.” (81-82)
