A Parisienne in Chicago

Siegel Cooper and Company

Layout of the Siegel, Cooper and Company Department Store, Chicago Tribune, 6 March 1892.

Quotation from A Parisienne in Chicago:

You can find everything in these stores. In the basement there is a butcher shop and a grocery store. On the ground floor, counters display every imaginable product. The fresh fruit section displays its oranges, pineapples, and bananas right next to the shoe department. The candy section is next to the silky fabrics while the jewelry department faces the spot where all sorts of liquors including whisky, rum, champagne and wines from France, Germany and Spain are found.
